Khaya; 4 Bedroom Leeward Canal Home Real Estate Opportunity

Khaya aeriel view of land parcel in proximity to the leeward channel and open ocean

After designing Fleur de Lys, Acajou, and Cotton House, all homes of traditional Caribbean architecture and interiors, our time to build contemporary Caribbean has finally come.  Millworks have always been a distinguishing factor in our builds, and Khaya will be no different.  Our primary business, TC Millwork, will be providing all of the woodworks; cabinetry, interior and exterior doors, and built-in furniture.  Millworks will primarily be built of African Mahogany, or Khaya, a genus of seven species of trees in the mahogany family and hence the name of the home.   Native stone will be another key feature within the interiors, balancing the sleek dark wood with brightness and texture. Read more about the unique location and benefits below.

Leeward WATERFRONT LIVING OPPORTUNITY

This contemporary pre-construction home lies on a west facing canal lot in the prestigious Leeward development on the northeast point of Providenciales.  Well reputed as one of the most affluent, safe, and attractive neighborhoods, the home is walking distance to the International School and Blue Haven Marina and amenities. Only a short distance drive to Leeward Highway, the location is well appointed for either full time residents or short term visitors.  With 101’ft of canal frontage to the west, 5 minute access to the Leeward channel to the North, and a flamingo frequented wetland to the south (pictured below), this parcel is a water lovers paradise.

Khaya great room; kitchen, dining, and living

The home will showcase local materials, native stone feature walls and indigenous landscaping. Mahogany doors, ceilings, custom cabinetry and interior design to be provided by TC Millwork Ltd.  Quality local contractors will complete the project, scheduled to complete in spring of 2019.  With close proximity to the best yachting, diving and island hopping, the home is minutes to world famous beaches via boat. Leewards waterfront properties maintain excellent value and are becoming increasingly scarce opportunities.

Spring 2015 High Point Market Highlights

Four Hands Furniture

Four Hands Furniture

Last April I had the opportunity to travel to North Carolina for the spring High Point Market.  As this was my second time at market, and intended for a single project, it was much easier to navigate.  Unless you have been, it is quite difficult to grasp the fact that there are 180 buildings, 11.5 MILLION square feet of showroom space filled with amazing furniture finds!  We ticked off our to visit list quite efficiently and managed to discover a few new vendors. .One day I hope to go for the full week and not rush about ever mindful of the ticking clock!   Here are a few highlights pictured below:

Saving Grace

In July I had the great pleasure of styling for a brand new build nestled into Leewards exclusive little neighborhood bay.  What a location!  We watched this home take shape block by block over the last year and knowing COAST architects were behind the design, we knew it would be sure to impress.  Sure enough, feast your eyes on these gorgeous images by Steve Passmore.

I loved the dark rich wood floors featured throughout the house as well as the window and door detailing.  The textured fabric chandelier added a cozy glow to the Master Bedroom.

The Master Bath was one of the most spectacular rooms of the house.

Imagine sinking into this grand bathtub and looking out to this view.

Because of the well conceived orientation of the home the views are a prominent feature throughout the house.  Everywhere one turned that famous Turks and Caicos turquoise beckoned.

How could one work with this enticing sight!  The lovely owner, a Caribbean loving Canadian, must have had the same thought as she designated this room to be multi-purpose; art studio, massage room, study, whatever the nature of the day demands.

The foyer is a great introduction to the house, the rich wood floors meet your feet and contemporary, earthy furnishings greet just beyond the door.

The kitchen is so spacious it begs to be the center of family and friends gathering place.

I adored these distressed vintage looking letters, much more so knowing that they represent the first letters of each of the owners childrens names.  Quite the monogram but the SEA that lies just beyond this house . . .

quite spectacular.

The location, the house, the pool, the beach makes for one completely stunning package so it’s no wonder a buyer fell in love with this house instantly, snatching it off the market in record time.

Kelly Isle Interior Decor Inspiration

Kelly Isle Kitchen inspiration, images via greigedesiretoinspirekvriver
I am working on a brand new build in Kelly Isle, a contemporary canal home which is a blank white canvas I hope to fill with a few dark details, lots of texture, and plenty of casual coastal white and nuetral tones.  The focal point of the kitchen will be a large central island with the subtle grey and walnut striation finish pictured bottom right.  Sleek bar stools will tie in with the state of the art sub-zero appliances and open shelving will host well designed necessities like these.

I am thinking along the lines of white slip covered sofas paired with ocean grey upholstered chairs and a large jute area rug for the main living room elements.  Natural woods tones and industrial style will play a part in the side tables, coffee table, art, and accessories.

The upper level contains the master bedroom, two baths, a nursery, and the office areas.  Nuetral linens, statement rugs, and key contemporary furnishings will continue the style from the main floor.

White Christmas Island Style

Image via beingruby
Living in the Caribbean but originating from the mountainous west, Christmas’s of past and present look for a common denominator.  White!  One just needs a little imagination to see the sea outside the windows of these images.  Okay, maybe the fireplaces are a stretch?  Here are a few of my Caribbean Christmas inspirations I have collected over the last year.  Please see last years inspirations here.  Enjoy!
