Last February I met with potential clients at Amazing Grace Villa who had viewed my painting featured in the dining room and wanted to commission a custom artwork.  Here are a couple of inspiration boards I created for the clients to get a sense of the color direction they preferred.

New Neutral Abstract

Gold, Bronze, Ivory Abstract painting

Gold, Bronze, Ivory Abstract painting

I recently completed a new abstract painting inspired by my waterscape series.  I am a huge fan of neutral color palettes in my own personal decorating so I was anxious to create a similar abstract work that would look great hanging on my own walls.  I experimented with cream, taupe, bright white, and both gold and bronze metallic paints before applying the super high gloss top coats.  I would love to see this painting find a home in a contemporary beach house with lots of earthy textured sisal, woven seagrass, dark wood details, and bright white walls.

One aspect I love with these paintings, that does not come across by photographing them unfortunately, is that they reflect so much light given the high gloss finish, as well as the metallic paints, that they look different from every angle or every hour of the day depending on what natural light may fall upon the surface.

Next up I hope to create a blindingly bright white and gold piece much larger than this 36×24 work.  Stay posted!

Commissioned and New Waterscape Paintings

Commissioned Waterscape Abstract Painting No.4 36″ x 50″ x 2.5″ SOLD

Last month I finalized several paintings within my Waterscape Series.  Above and below are the largest piece which was commissioned by a client overseas.  Because I use 100% plywood frames manufactured at TC Millwork, my paintings are nearly indestructible.  Plywood frames, versus canvas, allows me to layer and texture to my hearts content while I work and guarantees these beautiful artworks will endure several lifetimes for their owners.  Clients shipping abroad can be reassured their art will arrive unscathed.

Photographing these paintings is a real challenge as the hyper glossy topcoat which is designed to give the appearance that the painting is forever immersed in water, catches light reflections from every angle.  These pieces truly must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.  The three below may be viewed at Framing Grace Gallery in the Regent Village.

Giggles and polka dots!

Last month I was contacted by Marjorie Simmons about custom mural work for Giggles Ice Cream & Candy Parlour.  She was inspired by the Land of Nod website, a cascading polka dot motif in a rainbow of sorbet colors, and wanted to replicate the look on a few feature walls to give the space a fun, effervescent feel.
First I completed the Grace Bay Ports of Call location, the entire resort and shopping complex has just undergone a bright and cheerful renovation and now Giggles can say the same.

Giggles will soon be opening it’s brand new downtown location, look for details to come!  This space is much larger and I love the way the mural turned out on these tall walls.

One mother stopped in to see the work in progress and inquired about a kids room.  Absolutely!  There are lots of great ideas for incorporating polka dots in a nursery,
 kids bedroom,
 playroom,
or even furnishings.
You may even find a sleek and sophisticate use for polka dots in your home!
